Clarky

In seventh grade I had a teacher affectionately known as Clarky.  Clarky taught Social Studies and was a great and passionate man who truly wanted his students to learn.  One of the ways you could tell this was through his utter frustration.  Every so often the class would make him just so very, very mad.  The worst of this occurred one day when he had too much of a student not knowing or paying attention and decided to throw his book across the classroom.  We paid attention the rest of the time.

My other biggest memory from that class happened the day someone decided to put a dead bird on Clarky's desk.  Yes.

He threw the book across the room and I think it hit the trash can. He was frustrated, not violent!

Now that I think about it the bird thing may have been as part of home room/lunch (which I had with him). It was unrelated. The bird was dead before they got it and not sure which guys did it. Just a regular ole bird.

There's a Doc Martin episode that has to do with a dead bird. We also had a teacher in high school who most of us really loved, Mr. Smith, but he would throw chalk at girls (in the all girls school) when they didn't pay attention. They were not as fond of him. He wore bow ties all the time, and rode his bicycle to school.
