Last Sunday I had the opportunity to see them in concert in Lexington, KY at Buster's and it was fabulous. If you ever get the chance to see them--do it, just really amazing live. Awesome chemistry and stage presence.
Another perk to attending the concert was seeing many old friends and acquaintances. The amount that I ran into was insane--even saw one of my favorite professors at dinner beforehand...just one of those days.
A final note to this short update: this Amanda Palmer blog entry is worth your time.

A weekend away
This past weekend Andy and I attended Scarefest for the third year in a row. The event gets a bit bigger each year and next year's dates were announced already. Over the weekend there are several seminars and panels that one can attend. Some focus more on the paranormal and others on horror. I think everyone would enjoy at least a few of the ones offered.
My favorite this year was one with Travis Walton who seemed pretty genuine. It was interesting that he seems open to different interpretations of what happened to him--that it wasn't aliens and that he could have been at a military hospital. I've watched the (exaggerated) movie based on his experience, Fire in the Sky, and have been fascinated by his story for years. Something happened to this guy--whether it was that out of the ordinary is the question. I was happy to get an autographed copy of his book as I've only read excerpts through the years and never the whole thing.
Throughout the whole thing I had my photo taken with only one star. I HAD to meet George "The Animal" Steele--just too much of a legend. He's interesting in that he wrestled part time for decades while remaining a teacher and football coach in Michigan. I also enjoyed how he openly discussed his issues with dyslexia. Dyslexia is common on my mom's side of the family, with my closest cousin having the opportunity to attend a school specializing in teaching kids with it and similar differences. Through him I learned a lot about it and my college essay with my application was even on the subject! This knowledge has been helpful in almost every job I've ever had! Anyway, it's nice hearing someone talk about how much just having someone understand and adapt to how someone learns and can express themselves can just improve confidence and lead to bigger and better things. What a run-on sentence... Anyway, I got my photo with dear George and it was a good one, very pleased!
I also love being in Lexington and seeing my friends. It's amazing how much that can bring up the spirits (but not the type some of those ghost hunter types are trying to track down ;) The yummy food is a treat as well. You know I love my Atomic Cafe and Mr Kabab.

Duty done
Today I voted. Tonight I'm depressed. Stuck with some MSNBC news for a bit but just got to my breaking point. Now I'm watching X-files episodes and trying to cheer up. I try my best to understand the point of view of others but, golly, sometimes that's hard!
Today one of the guys at work bought me a doughnut as a thank you for sewing his tie yesterday. I keep a sewing kit in my desk and it came in handy for once. I haven't sewn anything much in quite a long time. Maybe I should try to make some clothes or something... Any suggestions? Perhaps I can get all crafty for my family for xmas or something...
