A good week on the way

On Tuesday I leave work a bit early to have dinner and then attend a concert with Heather and Drew. I'll see their new house again and get some visit time in. The concert is at the Kentucky Theatre and performing are Allison Moorer and Steve Earle. I'm a longtime fan of the lovely Ms. Moorer and this will be my first time seeing her live. Her voice is so powerful, I love it. Now I just need to get around to seeing Neko Case and Rosanne Cash. I'll drive back home that night and work the next day will suck (much like Friday after I caught a midnight showing of The Dark Knight). A link to one of her videos.

One bad things about the late night on Tuesday is that I won't have time for baking something for the cookie contest at work on Wednesday. I wanted to win!

On Thursday I'll travel to Lexington yet again to see Claire. We're going to eat at one of my favorite restaurants :) That night is the midnight showing of The X-Files: I Want To Believe which I'll attend with several friends (Jenn and I are even dressing as FBI Agents). Andy can't go as he has to work the next day (I took that Friday off while he took last Friday off) so that's disappointing. After that I think Claire and I are watching dvds and I want to have an indoor picnic because I'm lame and it's an excuse to have drink and foods I love. Our time together will include getting some stuff together for Becky so I'm looking forward to that. Claire leaves for a family weekend event on Friday so I don't know what I'm doing after that...

Speaking of Becky, I've gotten to talk to her a lot the last few days and for that I'm very happy. I truly miss my friends being near.

I only update when I make something

Muffins again. Blueberry but a different recipe than before. Even better than last time and what I'll use from now on. Made twelve muffins and used 2 cups of berries rather than one. Here's the recipe.

Tonight I made blueberry muffins from scratch. Fresh blueberries and everything. They turned out pretty well except they stuck to the paper cups a bit.

i felt bad so i left work early and took a bus i'd never taken before so i could get to my car, which i had luckily parked at a different park and ride than usual so that i could at least get to it, and was on the bus for over an hour AND THEN it turns out it went to the other anderson park and ride and not the one my car was at but luckily the bus driver took pity on my poor sick soul, called in, and got permission to drive me back there.

I cooked a lot today.

Heather came up around 1:00 for an early birthday lunch for her. I made homemade biscuits, sausage and sausage gravy, and scrambled eggs. We also had some elderberry jam and orange blossom honey with the biscuits.

The Royal Rumble was tonight so Greg, Josh, and Mike came over to watch it with us on the new tv in HD. This meant the cooking of more food. There were chicken tenders in spicy garlic sauce with blue cheese and ranch, homemade stuffed potato skins (those things take forever to make), and turtle brownies.

The heat on the bus worked today

...as opposed to yesterday when it did not.

It would be nice if I didn't have work the rest of the week...or my life...

Slept in a bit this morning so the day was nice for a bit. Then I ended up sick. I blame the berries I had for breakfast...so no more berries for me for a while--be nice and hope the store has some nice looking bananas for me sometime soon. Every time I go they are green-green and I don't have patience for that--I want my banana now! I need to start making my own smoothies.

I want dessert.

aquarium

Yesterday included a visit from Becky. We (this includes Andy) ate at Red Robin and then made our way to the Newport Aquarium. It was my first trip there--the octopus was awesome. Becky took lots of photos that she promises to put online soon. Unlike Becky and Andy I took advantage of the chance to touch the sharks. They feel like a thick shower curtain--smooth and waterproof yet kind of rough.

After picking up some slices of cookie cake, drink ingredients, and snacks we headed back to the apartment for some movie watching. Becky helped in starting the assembly of my lego batmobile...that thing will take forever. Samus got shut in the bathroom for a bit as she was playing/attempting to eat the pieces.

Becky left this morning so now things are back to normal. At least I have tomorrow off.

Update: lighter found and is working fine as a match alternative.

Disappointed that I won't be forced into trying this method come sunrise. Chocolate really is one of the best things ever.
